Are you looking for a relaxing getaway not too far from Bangkok? I highly recommend The Moon River Camp! This hidden gem is a campsite with a surprisingly great atmosphere, tucked away in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima.
A Campsite Embraced by Nature
After visiting many places, I had the chance to stay here and was immediately impressed. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, with a vast, lush green lawn. You can clearly see the Lam Takhong stream flowing by, and the gentle sound of the water makes for a truly relaxing experience.
This campsite is a place where you can spend the whole day relaxing, surrounded by a tranquil atmosphere, and even go for a refreshing dip in the stream.
Surprisingly Complete Facilities
If you think camping means roughing it, this place will change your mind. The owner, Palm, is so accommodating that it feels like you're staying at a friend's house. The facilities are so comprehensive you barely need to bring anything.
-
Spotless Restrooms: The restrooms are exceptionally clean, with separate sections for toilets and showers just like a hotel. They also have water heaters and excellent water pressure, so you can enjoy a comfortable shower no matter how cold it is.
-
Delicious Food: You definitely won't go hungry here. The camp offers made-to-order dishes and popular classics like Moo Kata (Thai BBQ pork) and Mala (spicy hot pot), which many people rave about. I especially recommend the "authentic Korat Stir-Fried Noodles" — it's so good you'll want to order it again and again. For green tea lovers, the Iced Green Tea is a must-try.
-
Above-and-Beyond Service: The camp provides large trolleys to help you transport your gear, making the struggle of carrying heavy luggage a breeze. You can also borrow stoves and fans. Most importantly, the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Good to Know Before You Go
-
Directions: If you're driving, it's best to first set your GPS to Wat Kosol Sitraram Temple and then to the camp. This is easier than going directly to the camp, as the direct route might have construction or closed roads.
-
Night Atmosphere: The evenings are cool enough to need a blanket, and it can get a bit windy at times, but your tent will feel warm and secure.
-
Pet-Friendly: The camp welcomes dogs, but you must keep a close eye on them, as there are local animals in the area.
For me, The Moon River Camp is the perfect place to truly unwind. It's ideal for anyone who wants to escape the chaos, clear their mind, listen to nature, and spend quality time alone or with loved ones. I guarantee you'll want to go back again!
