Wat Phu Khao Thong Ayutthaya
Phu Khao Thong Pagoda It is a large pagoda. Located in the middle of rice fields at Phu Khao Thong Temple, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Can be seen from far away Wat Phu Khao Thong is assumed to have been built in the early Ayutthaya period. In the reign of King Ramesuan But the pagoda is assumed to have been built during the first fall of the city.
It is expected that King Bayinnaung He built it to announce victory over Ayutthaya. The assumption is that the base of the pagoda has a Mon style and art. But the assumption must be challenged. This is because the chedi on the base is an Ayutthaya art chedi, like the chedi of King Sri Suriyothai. at the old brewery and the pagoda in Wat Yansen Therefore, it is unclear and there is no evidence as to who built this pagoda.
Today I traveled from home to Ayutthaya by motorbike. To go to Wat Phu Khao Thong But I will not travel through the Ayutthaya city island, so I use bypass route 356 and turn right at the intersection with route 347 heading towards Bang Pahan District. Pass through Worachet intersection Go straight until you reach Thung Makham Yong intersection and then turn right into Ayutthaya city. Actually, you can turn left and go under the bridge to enter Wat Phu Khao Thong. But I would like to take you to the path in front of the King Naresuan the Great Monument.
I drive a motorcycle Go straight to Phu Khao Thong Pagoda first. Then park your car under the shade of a tree. Before walking around taking photos Then walk up the stairs from the base of the pagoda to the top. The pagoda at the top has an open door. You can also go to worship inside the pagoda.
Phu Khao Thong Chedi has a very large Mon art base. Around the base, it has been well restored. Until it's beautiful and clean. The pagoda is painted white. But there was a black fungus. from the humidity of rain and dew Makes it look magical in another way. We know that pagodas in the Ayutthaya period were often painted white since the ancient era.
On the north side of the pagoda There will be a monument to King Naresuan the Great. stand out elegantly At the entrance to Wat Phu Khao Thong The monument area is a public park next to a large reservoir.
If anyone has the opportunity to travel to Ayutthaya, it is recommended to visit and see the King Naresuan the Great Monument and the Phu Khao Thong Chedi all at the same time.
Inside the pagoda, you can go to worship the Buddha image. which is the red Buddha image And there is a Buddha image of Luang Pho Sothon inside the chedi.
The monument of King Naresuan the Great is located at the entrance to Wat Phu Khao Thong. You can visit without any cost.
